I finally made it, all that work and effort has got me here. I would like to say a big thank you to all my friends and family for coming and supporting me in this exhibition. And a massive thank you must go to my fiancee for putting up with me talking about this for the last month.

Please leave your choice in the comments. Thank you These pieces are intended as distractions for the exhibition concept they will draw attention from the little boy and cause him to be ignored and invisible. While they do this they will still make reference to childhood and invisibility.
This piece was created taking inspiration from the memory of rejection and dismissal. The feeling of being cast aside and to a place that is insignificant or invisible to those around you. This concept of piece will be at the heart of my exhibition.
For a few weeks we have been concentrating on the Gaze and the position of the other. Centring this discussion around portraiture, with one lecture in particular we were looking closely at self portraiture. Often in the past if an artist has made a self portrait it was rarely in the interest to sell for large amounts of money.
Although its already midway through the semester I need to start from fresh.
I need to rethink how I'm using the materiality of the UV ink. How do I realise its potential? An important moment I think, it's about mid way through semester 1 and my work seems to be flying of in several directions. My research is vague and almost none existent. I'm trying to be productive, but I really need to focus, otherwise I may become lost in a maze of projects leading to no clear outcome.
After thinking about the characters I was portraying in last crit I started to try and find some more controversial character that may benefit from the UV ink hidden opinion style unlike Margret & David. I remembered the Pinterest page I had stumbled upon in search of politicians as children imagery and decided to go back but to search for characters of the more infamous variety. I had hopped that when viewing the images of these infamous men as children, I would see a contradiction of a cute child's face, against their evil behaviour as an adults. Only to be disappointed, for from where I'm sitting they all somehow seem to have a shadow of evil drawn across there face. I can only hope that my drawing style brings out the best in them.
Pointers for the future:
After spending so long testing the UV inks to try and find the perfect material to write on,I was so pleased with the outcome. I loved how well the hidden message worked; As you can see the UV ink was clearly visible under Ultraviolet light and invisible in normal light. The images take on completely different personas almost when show in different lighting conditions.
The image of Margret that I worked from fortunately had a cutesy delicate look about her, counter opposite to the persona she is known for, during her years as the British Prime Minister. My drawing of her I feel really reflected this delicate nature, showing her in a kind of soft focus. Hopefully this could cause peoples normally set opinions of her to waver slightly as they are reminded that she was just a human being. On the other hand we have David Cameron, a bubbly child full of life. I wanted to play on they fact that although happy and kind, I wanted my drawing of him to be more sinister than his counterpart in Margret I wanted My drawing of him to reflect my feelings towards a £9000 a year student tuition fee not even taking into account the living costs. I wonder if his Eton education and FREE! University education was the causation of this happy child's decline into evil. The UV statements really work and they re-enforce the messages I had started with my drawing style. Bring on tomorrows Crit. It's trips week at University this week, and unfortunately at the time of booking the trip to Berlin, I was unable to afford it. So I guess I'll just have to crack on with making some work and viewing some more local exhibitions. I only regret that my friends on the trip will gather so much experience, and see tones of work that I will miss. So I can only express my disappointment in not being there.
